Liberal Democrat candidate Trevor Poile says that as a cyclist he knows only too well how bad this stretch of St John's Road has become

It has recently been announced by the County Council that there will be more road works along the A26 this summer. After last year's disruption one can understand how frustrated local residents and traders must feel about more work on this road.

The road works will include a new southbound lane for drivers to turn left into Yew Tree Road and an extension of the bus lane outside the bus depot up to the junction with Queens Road.

From June 15th to July 20th St. John's Road will be resurfaced between the Sports Centre and East Cliff Road.

"This resurfacing has been long overdue" says Liberal Democrat candidate Trevor Poile. "As a cyclist I know only too well how bad this stretch has become. In 2007 local cyclists campaigned to get this section resurfaced before the Tour de France. I found it embarrassing that an international sporting event had to encounter such poor road conditions".
